“No rules. All welcome” is the tagline for Tiffany & Co.’s latest collection, Tiffany Lock. And by that, the jeweler means that this line was created for everyone, with no specific gender in mind.
But what exactly does an all-gender collection look like? Tiffany & Co. took the approach of looking back in order to move forward by tapping into its archives—specifically homing in on its signature padlock motif as a symbol of unity and inclusivity. (The brand, after all, offered functional padlocks prior to the 1950s, which it later developed into everything from key rings and money clips to brooches and necklaces.) The result is a series of streamlined bangles in 18k yellow, rose, and white gold, solid or mixed, with diamond variations. The pieces also feature swinging mechanisms that mimic the motion and functionality of a padlock—and took Tiffany & Co.’s artisans more than a year to perfect.
“Tiffany Lock is an elegant interpretation of an archival functional design,” said Alexandre Arnault, executive vice president of product and communication at Tiffany & Co., in a statement. “Defined by modern, clean lines and a breakthrough clasp mechanism, Tiffany Lock represents an exciting new pillar to our diamond and gold jewelry offering. We are thrilled to unveil our latest icon.”
Ranging from $6,800 to $32,000, the four Tiffany Lock bangles are available at Tiffany & Co. stores and online now, while additional styles will debut in January 2023.
