Pharos by Pamela Zamore Is a Light in Dark Times

Pamela Zamore can always be counted on to bring forth a covetable collection. Her aesthetic, much of which encompasses the always-high demand for celestial jewelry, is perfectly timeless. Our editorial team at JCK has rejoiced in her work—Amy Elliott highlighted her Carry Some Light With You collection last October, while I shared her Sky collection in 2019.

For 2022, Pharos, a new collection from Zamore, is just as—if not more—gratifying, combining elements of both aforementioned collections into a new line of compelling charms.

“Beacons to help guide us to light, especially in challenging times,” is written in the collection’s notes. “Each is a symbol; choose those that speak to you and your intentions. Chart the direction of where you’ve been and where you want to go; layering charms, adding rings, or building a custom charm bracelet creates a personal story to reflect and inspire. A story that’s all yours. In a glance—at your fingers, at your passing reflection—find an instant touchstone to celebrate and cultivate what you value most.”

From a heart to a horseshoe, a snake to a yin-yang, the collection of charms and rings joins a wealth of other talisman lines to enter the market over the last several years. And yet, as a testament to a designer who has honed her aesthetic to a signature perfection, it remains novel, individual, noticed.

“When I selected symbols for the Pharos collection, I chose those that have a universal quality to them and also are rooted in history. I think that especially during challenging times, it can be helpful to reflect on what is important to us,” says Zamore. “What will help us to meet our intentions in this moment in our lives? What do we value most? Each of the Pharos symbols serves as a beacon or light that reflects what really matters to us now and in the days before us, but they also help us to reflect upon the path we have already traveled.”

The yin-yang symbol (above) is an eye-catcher. A mainstay of 90s fashion (read: Gen Z will love it), once as populous as a peace sign, it stands out among the collection as a reminder to embrace the power of opposing forces. The scarab, with its roots in ancient Egypt, and the knot, an icon of unbreakable love, will also find fans.

Rounding out the collection is an acorn charm—perhaps you remember the popularity of acorns after Duchess Kate wore her acorn earrings on the day of her royal wedding? As a symbol for strength and prosperity, the acorn is another sure bet.

“Naturally I love each of the symbols, but I must say that the Rebirth charm [shown above] has resonated with me for many years,” says Zamore of her favorite piece in the collection. “I am a seeker and can be quite introspective, with a deep intention to grow and evolve over the course of my life, in my career, in my family life, as a citizen of the world, and as a woman. For this reason, I have a Rebirth signet on order for myself as a personal talisman, a reminder of this intention. I am looking forward to slipping it on my finger, because I know that in an instant, it will become a part of me.”

The collection, which includes the charms, also features signet rings—another very in-demand style, is available now.
