Better Silver has appointed Peter Englehart (pictured), a veteran of Swarovski and Tiffany & Co., its first-ever director of business development and sales for North America.
Englehart says that while the company has sold product to the United States since 1987, “they have never had a U.S. office before. They had a great steady business, but it was mostly servicing people from overseas.”
In his new role, Englehart hopes to grow its business in the United States, its fastest-growing market.
“We are in a relationship business,” Englehart says, “where you sit down and speak with people on a regular basis. Now, we can sit with our clients and be very responsive and timely.”
Englehart previously worked for Swarovski from 2013 to 2021, at its Atelier Swarovski, Diama, and Chamilia divisions. Prior to that, he was group director of Tiffany & Co. and chief operating officer at Shreve, Crump & Low.
Established in 1977 by Romano Bettinardi in the gold district in Bressanvido, Italy, Better Silver specializes in made-to-order sterling silver chains and related components. Bettinardi still serves as chairman, while his two sons, Paolo and Andrea, serve as co-CEOs. In 1991, the company introduced the Ball Chain, its best-selling product.
Better Silver has been certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council, and also obtained SA8000 certification from Social Accountability International.
