Omaha, Neb.–based retailer Borsheims has promoted Sunil Luthra (pictured) to vice president of technology and security.
In his new role, Luthra will join the Berkshire Hathaway–owned jeweler’s executive team as an officer of the company. He will continue to lead the development and strategic direction of its technology infrastructure, innovation, and data security but will also oversee Borsheim’s security team, as the store combines its data security operation with personal and merchandise security.
Luthra joined Borsheims in 2010 as the director of information technology, where he introduced new technology strategies to increase data security standards at Borsheims and improve the company’s overall efficiency. Recently, he implemented an enterprise resource planning system, which has streamlined work in the areas of inventory management, data analysis and reporting, product fulfillment, and financial operations.
Luthra is cochair of the Adaptive Jewelry Users Group and a member of the Berkshire Hathaway CIO (Chief Information Officer) Council. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management information systems from the University of Nebraska–Omaha. Born in New Delhi, India, Luthra lives in Omaha with his wife and three children.
