Enrico Cirio 2013 Talent Award Winners Announced

Three individuals have been named winners of the Enrico Cirio 2013 Talent Award competition, sponsored by the Laboratory of Analysis of Gems R.A.G. and named after late Turin native and master goldsmith Enrico Cirio.

Patricia Posada Mac Niles from Buenos Aires won first prize in the Designer category for her L’Agguato (The Hiding) pin in karat gold and silver with a coral branch, diamonds, and sapphires; the piece is a fairy tale about a cat and a butterfly, and speaks to the animal theme of contest. Alessandro Fiori and Carlotta Dasso, students at the European Institute of Design of Turin, took first prize in the Young category with Prova a Prendermi (Try to catch me); the karat gold, diamond, and glass ring—which shows a fish mother embracing her eggs—is inspired by the sea and its habitants.

Entrants for this year’s competition came from Poland, Denmark, Iraq, Argentina, Venezuela, Taiwan, and Great Britain.
