JCK Las Vegas is barely more than a week away at this point, time that will surely speed by, as it often does. While this show—two years in the making, really—won’t look exactly like the comparatively carefree ones before it (if only we knew then what we know now, right?), it’s a return to a desperately missed and much desired part of this industry life.
It’s a return I’ll have to miss, staying home with a newborn. Though I’m very much looking forward to nurturing my own new gem at home, I am not without envy that my industry colleagues will be up close and personal with hordes of gorgeous jewels. Particularly after more than a year of sweatsuits (and, in my case, maternity clothes), I imagine it will feel absolutely divine to dress up in actual street-legal clothing and glitter to the nines in the finest creations, even if only from trying them on for a moment.
I’ll have to settle for a digital preview and my imagination, but even that is pretty thrilling after a year off from the shows. My 2020 (and yours, no doubt) was sorely lacking in Vegas-bound jewels, and 2021 will be no such thing. Here’s a short list of pieces I would most love to explore on the show floor of JCK Las Vegas.
