On July 1, Dune Jewelry & Co., which makes jewelry based on sand and Earth elements, opened its first-ever branded brick-and-mortar store in Harwich Port, Mass., a popular Cape Cod vacation spot.
In a statement, Dune’s founder and CEO Holly Daniels Christensen said the brand’s new flagship has a “white-washed interior decor” and is a “beautiful, clean space that is quintessential Cape Cod.” The store evokes a “beach-inspired experience, which is perfect for our brand,” she added.
The 1,000-square-foot store includes a Sandbank, a display featuring hundreds of sands and elements from around the world that customers can use to create personalized designs.
Its employees double as local lifeguards on the days they’re not in the store.
Camille Kostek, who hosts the TBS show Wipeout and is a former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, appeared at the store’s opening.
Christensen founded Dune Jewelry at her kitchen table in 2010; JCK’s Brittany Siminitz saluted the brand’s 10th anniversary last year. Its pieces are handmade at the brand’s studio in Massachusetts and are currently sold in over 750 stores.
In 2016, the Small Business Administration named Christensen its Woman-Owned Business of the Year for Massachusetts and New England.
