Jewelers Mutual Group has partnered with with Madison Square Garden Entertainment for Stage the Engage, a contest that provides one winner the opportunity to propose, onstage at Radio City Music Hall, during a private performance by Nashville-based singer-songwriter Ben Rector. The event will take place on Monday, Sept. 20.
The Wisconsin-based insurance group, founded in 1913 by a group of jewelers, will give a $5,000 gift card to the couple for purchasing wedding jewelry at whatever retailer they choose. The winners will also be flown to New York City to enjoy the private performance at the Radio City Music Hall. Plus, they will be able to bring four guests to the proposal event and invite 20 friends and family to watch via livestream.
While destination proposals were extremely popular in the years leading up to the pandemic, they virtually ground to a halt in 2020. Many couples had to do away with proposals and weddings altogether. And those who persevered turned to at-home or local proposals (e.g., on a hike, at a park, on a beach). Executives at Jewelers Mutual said they are eager to be involved in and promote engagements now that pandemic-related restrictions have loosened up and there is such pent-up demand.
“For over 100 years, Jewelers Mutual has protected jewelry and the emotional connection it has in our lives,” said Tyler Krowiorz, director of marketing at Jewelers Mutual Group, in a statement. “With so many couples postponing proposals and weddings during 2020, we wanted to help two lucky winners get their life together started in a memorable way. We’re thrilled to team up with Ben Rector and MSG Entertainment to help bring this dream proposal to life at Radio City Music Hall.”
