Montblanc Honors Spike Lee With New Meisterstück Fountain Pen

Montblanc has just unveiled a special limited edition of its Meisterstück fountain pen dedicated to director, producer, professor, and writer Shelton Jackson “Spike” Lee, creator of more than 35 movies including the seminal Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X, and the recent—and utterly superb—BlacKkKlansman.

First introduced in 1924, the Meisterstück 146 fountain pen is an icon of the German heritage brand. Limited to just 500 pieces worldwide, the new Spike Lee Meisterstück is made in precious black resin with ruthenium-coated fittings, with the award-winning filmmaker’s distinctive eyes and glasses in vibrant purple, his favorite color.

Lee’s place in the pantheon of American culture phenoms is further explored in a new Montblanc brand campaign. Titled “What Moves You, Makes You” it seeks to articulate the idea that following what moves you will lead you to a place of fulfillment, purpose, and success.

As for Lee’s official comment: “Well, I like to write. Pen to paper. I don’t type. The way my brain works, this doesn’t work. It blocks the flow.”

This particular Meisterstück is the perfect gift—or acquisition—for a film buff, an aspiring screenwriter (or an established one), a diehard Brooklynite, or anyone who appreciates Lee’s signature storytelling style. Now do the right thing and go get one before they sell out.
