Glenn Spiro Exhibition: Through Dec. 31, Sotheby’s Palm Beach
If you are wintering in or visiting South Florida over the holidays, here’s a rare chance, especially in this age of travel bans, to see the extraordinary work of the London-based high jewelry artist known as G (aka Glenn Spiro) in person. The new Sotheby’s gallery in Palm Beach is hosting a limited-engagement, private exhibition of 40 one-of-a-kind pieces by the artist. Highlights include an exceptional old mine emerald necklace set in green titanium, a rare diamond necklace set on Japanese gray silk, and a pair of autumnal cognac diamond shell earrings.

(Courtesy of L’École, School of Jewelry Arts)
Hosted by Van Cleef & Arpels’ L’École, School of Jewelry Arts, in Paris, this digital exhibition celebrates the work of Jean Vendome (1930–2017), a true mineral connoisseur and pioneer of modern jewelry. Browse a gallery of images online, or explore the exhibition as if you were there in person—with Marie-Laure Cassius-Duranton, gemologist, art historian, and teacher at L’École—in the video above. (L’École hopes to reopen the physical exhibition, at its Place Vendôme location, in January.)

Bulgari Roma: Travel Tales for Beauty Lovers, edited by Jan Králíček
This December release from Rizzoli New York combines two of our industry’s great loves: beautiful jewelry and travel, making it a unique addition to your personal library or a last-minute holiday gift for one of your colleagues. Since Bulgari’s founding in 1884, Rome has provided the house with an endless source of inspiration, and this unique guide to the Eternal City draws parallels between the city’s landmarks and the classic Bulgari designs they have engendered. Diverse perspectives from figures in fashion, cinema, sports, and music—including Anna Dello Russo, Lily Cole, Ennio Morricone, Roberto Rossellini, Boy George, and Francesco Vezzoli—are woven into the narrative for a rich and engaging read.

Netflix’s Rebecca
This year, Christmas could very well mean some version of Netflix and chill (cue the Chinese food, too!). Honestly, lucky you. One recent release that might not yet be in your queue is Rebecca, a reboot of the famous 1940 film based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier that starred Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. In this racy version, the leads are played by the wildly handsome Armie Hammer (Call Me by Your Name) and the equally gorgeous Lily James (cousin Rose on Downton Abbey). This might be all that’s needed to convince you but yes, there is jewelry up in this 1930s glamourfest. By Chopard. Look for these “cameos”: a rose gold necklace (and matching earrings) from the Temptations collection, set with rubellites and pink sapphires (pictured above), and the L.U.C Heritage Grand Cru timepiece, both seen in that cringeworthy costume ball scene. Also: Kristin Scott Thomas is perfect as the icy Mrs. Danvers.
