The Carlsbad, Calif.–based Gemological Institute of America is now accepting scholarship applications for its 2015 Gemology and Jewelry Manufacturing Arts programs, courses, and lab classes. Applications will be available through Oct. 31 online.

Scholarships are available for distance-education online courses and for classes at the institute’s campuses in Bangkok, Carlsbad, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, New York City, Taiwan, and at the GIA branch in Dubai.

Numerous awards for international online courses as well as awards for U.S.-based lab classes are available and are sponsored by private donors and the GIA endowment fund. In January 2014, the GIA granted its fall 2013 scholarships to 151 students in 29 countries, with awards totaling more than $500,000.
