The Emilie Heathe x Selin Kent Jewelry Capsule Is a Beauty

In February, before the pandemic disrupted everything on the planet, we covered the Alli Webb x Maya Brenner jewelry collaboration, a series of huggies, threaders, and studs as imagined by the designer and Webb, founder of the blow-dry salon and haircare franchise Drybar.

Now, another jewelry/beauty matchup has landed on our radar, one that pairs nail and makeup artist Emily Rudman of Emilie Heathe with jewelry designer Selin Kent. The two creatives, both New Yorkers who have known each other since college, have come together to offer fans of Rudman’s luxury nail polishes some jewels to elevate their manicured fingers (and add to their earscapes).

Rudman’s nail polish is known for its clean ingredients (i.e., bamboo extract, coconut oil, vitamin E, and sea buckthorn), but one of its most covetable characteristics is the unique circular shape of its bottle topped by a gleaming gold, crescent-shape cap.

Beauty entrepreneur Emily Rudman, founder of Emilie Heathe, trained as a makeup artist and hairstylist and has worked at Mac, Avon, and Bobbi Brown. She also holds an MBA from Columbia University. Her brand is centered on the idea that makeup and nail art can be a vehicle for creativity and self-expression.

Called the Arc collection, the unisex jewelry capsule includes arc-shape stud earrings with or without diamonds (pictured at top and below) and other simple silhouettes that reflect Kent’s flair for geometric, minimalist concepts.

Rudman admits that product development was extremely difficult, so she thought it best to partner with someone who was an expert in the field of fine jewelry. With Kent, says Rudman, she is able to offer her customers “a truly luxurious and well-made product.”

Meanwhile, Kent gets access to a consumer she may not have been able to reach before.

The intersection of beauty and jewelry businesses feels like the right idea for right now, when it’s so important to widen your reach and engage new audiences.

How can you use this cross-pollination and natural overlap to your advantage? Maybe there’s an opportunity to collaborate with a local nail salon or apothecary?

Here’s what Kent came up with for Emilie Heathe, drawing on their shared love of architecture and industrial design—and all things lustrous and shiny.
