Why we love designer Lauren Adriana’s blue diamond ring.

The old English rhyme that calls for a bride to wear “something blue” on her wedding day is usually interpreted as an article of dress, like a garter belt. But London-based designer Lauren Adriana has a better idea. In collaboration with Siegelson in New York City, she’s designed a symbol of everlasting love bound to make any bride blush with red-hot envy. With an 18k rose gold and blackened silver mounting, the ring features 374 round-cut multicolor diamonds arranged in a curved pavé, a white diamond edge, and an elongated shape echoing the design of 18th-century Portuguese rings, all in service of the showstopper—a 1.51 ct. cushion-cut fancy deep-blue diamond (certed by GIA, of course). But wait, there’s more: The blue diamond, like the Hope Diamond, is certified type IIb, a distinction given to less than one-half of 1 percent of the world’s diamonds. And then there’s this: The boron that lends the stone its stunning blue color also makes it conductive to electricity. Suffice it to say, we’re charged.
