Trade shows are where members of the global jewelry industry network, buy for the coming seasons, make connections, discover new trends, and often educate themselves.

But the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the cancelation and delay of several major trade shows this year, and has challenged organizers to find alternate ways to bring the industry together. 

The topic is the subject of a webinar, “The Trade Shows: Rethinking the Future,” that’s part of CIBJO’s Jewelry Industry Voices series. The virtual event will livestream June 4 at 9 a.m. EDT, and will feature major jewelry trade show organizers discussing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the industry, as well as paths for moving forward. 

The free webinar will feature speakers Yancy Weinrich, COO of Reed Exhibitions, which owns and operates the JCK and Luxury shows (Reed also owns JCK magazine and JCKonline.com); Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets, the organizer of the major jewelry and gem shows in Hong Kong in June and September; Michel Loris-Melikoff, managing director of Baselworld; and Marco Carniello, group brand director of jewelry and fashion at the Italian Exhibition Group, organizer of the VicenzaOro shows. 

The online event, which is produced with the support of the Italian Exhibition Group, will be moderated by Edward Johnson and Steven Benson, and hosted by CIBJO president Gaetano Cavalieri.
