Lia sophia, the decades-old home-sales jewelry company formerly known as Lady Remington and Act II, is closing down, the company announced in a blog post.
“Given the challenging business environment, we made the painful decision to wind down lia sophia in the United States and Canada by December 31, and cease operations by the end of February,” said the message from creative director Elena Kiam.
According to the Chicago Tribune, in 1986, Victor Kiam—famous for being the “I liked it so much, I bought the company” billionaire in the Remington Razor commercials—bought home-sales company Act II and rechristened it Lady Remington. Son Tony changed that to lia sophia in 2004, in honor of his two daughters.
