A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the Tarot Card collection by Sofia Zakia, and now, here’s another lovely jewel fueled by spiritual concepts.

This pendant is from Swiss jewelry designer Jenny Dee, a creator whose aesthetic relies heartily on cosmic, mystical, and fantastical imagery. The work of Jennifer Dabbah, the jeweler who introduced the brand in 2015, is that of which I do not feel worthy. It’s like everything I wish I could be—good at sourcing vintage clothing, having firsthand knowledge of the best yet-to-be-known bands, possessing hair that styles itself straight out of the shower—and yet can only dream of. Still, owning a piece would be one step closer, because the work is so incredible onlookers might be fooled into thinking I’ve got something going on here.

The collection from which this pendant is from, Magic Totem, speaks to the current need to have in our grasps something special. Something of protection, or at least of good vibes, that can be counted on to get us through. I saw the image of this pendant even before I learned its backstory, and just seeing it made me feel a little bit better.

This particular pendant—one of nine in the series—features a talisman of protection. But even without knowing that, it feels as if it’s meant for some sort of special safekeeping mission. Its kitelike shape is commanding and tough: Sharp points leave a feeling of fierce defense, like the pendant is a shield, a portable little champion. Its featured design, comprising an inlay of opal, turquoise, amethyst, and malachite, feels like an endless pool of light, containing otherworldly powers beyond our understanding. Its border traced in diamonds, well, that just looks good—no one ever complained about a dashing accent of diamonds.

For those who need to feel something other than protected, Magic Totem offers creations of Power and Good Luck, as well as protection totems of other styles too. And right now, who couldn’t use a little magic?
