It was designer Kerri Halpern’s Three Graces convertible—from a single to double—ring (which debuted at Couture last year, earned an Honorable Mention as part of the WJA Gem Diva Awards portion of the 2015 AGTA Spectrum Awards, and appeared in JCK magazine in October 2014) that kicked off the idea for Madstone‘s new Melting Ice collection. The New York City–based designer has 24 SKUs to date, made in 18k white, yellow, and black rhodium gold, set with diamonds or colored stones such as peridot, zircon, and more. Styles include classics like stacking rings as well as ear climbers, cuff bracelets, and chokers, all with that melting-ice aesthetic.
“The collection is a playful take on watching the cold winter melt into spring color,” explains Halpern. “The inspiration is depicted in the pieces with the dripping effect of the stones falling off the center stone and resembling water droplets.”
Retail prices start at $1,900 and will begin shipping to stores in March. Additions will be ready for September delivery. Buy-in is 9–12 pieces in a mix of colored stones and diamonds.
