The veteran dealer wants the group to promote all colored diamonds—not just the best
The Natural Color Diamond Association (NCDIA) announced Alan Bronstein of Aurora Gems was elected group president, during its 2017 Board of Directors Election.
Jose Batista of Rio Diamond Manufacturing Corp. was elected vice president, and Breanne Wittrock was re-elected as vice president. Scott West of L.J. West was elected secretary and treasurer.
Bronstein, a veteran colored diamond dealer, says he wants the association to stress education.
“That will require more social media involvement, and maybe some sort of classes,” he says.
He also wants his group to promote all colored diamonds—not just the big ones at auction that set records.
“Ninety-five percent of colored diamonds are yellow and brown,” he says. “But what do we talk about most of the time? The so-called ‘best.’
“The browns are the most affordable colored diamonds out there but there have been stigmas against them. We want to break those kinds of prejudices. There is no holy grail in colored diamonds. It’s a matter of taste and what you like.”
He also hopes to work with other industry groups.
“If we don’t work together as a team effort for natural diamonds then we are going to be knocked out,” he says. “My mission is to get us to work together to get our message out if we are going to survive.”
