Mort Weisenfeld, the former CEO of A. Cohen and Sons and an industry philanthropist, died on Sept. 9 at age 89.
Weisenfeld was president and chairman of the 24 Karat Club of New York, and for years headed the industry chapter of the National Conference for Community and Justice.
“Mort was deeply devoted to charities and organizations in the jewelry industry, and his example and friendship inspired in many others a commitment to leadership and giving,” said a statement from the 24 Karat Club.
In January, the Jewelers’ Security Alliance honored Weisenfeld for his 27 years of service on the organization’s board.
