Democrats are more likely to shop at Zale than Republicans, while the reverse is true for rival Kay Jewelers, according to a survey from research firm Experian Simmons that appeared in The Wall Street Journal on Dec. 4.
According to the Journal, if a store was ranked 100 or higher, members of that political party preferred shopping there more than the average person.
Zale ranked 106 with Democrats, but just 74 with Republicans and 85 with independents. Kay Jewelers, meanwhile, scored 104 with Republicans, 101 with independents, but only 88 with Democrats.
The survey also found that Republicans and independents were more likely than Democrats to shop at Belks, J.C. Penney, Target, Sears, and Walmart. Democrats tended to prefer Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Bloomingdales, and Saks, more than Republicans and independents.
