Leonard Luria, former chairman and CEO of the L. Luria and Son chain, died Sept. 3 at age 89.
The one-time chain of 43 jewelry and giftware stores, founded in 1898 and based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was purchased by Ocean Reef Management in 1996, and declared bankruptcy the following year.
A Miami Herald obit remembers Luria as an active philanthropist. In 1995, he and his wife received a Distinguished Community Service Award from the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
