Jewelry designer and retailer Alex and Ani has purchased a local winery, Sakonnet Vineyards, in Little Compton, R.I.

Sakonnet Vineyards comprises 170 acres planted with varietals of Vinifera, including Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc, as well as the French-American hybrid Vidal Blanc.

The Alex and Ani purchase includes the Sakonnet Vineyards grounds, as well as an additional 70 acres of land.

“All of us at Alex and Ani are excited about taking Sakonnet Vineyards to the next level of achievement,” said Alex and Ani CEO Giovanni Feroce in a statement. “This will amount to a major reinvestment in our local Rhode Island economy and community.”
