Birks and Mayors announced that its net sales for the first quarter decreased 3 percent to $68.8 million.
The decrease in sales resulted from the company’s reduction of operating stores, which decreased by seven retail stores and three outlet stores, compared with the same period last year.
Highlights of Birks and Mayors financial statement include (for the quarter ended June 30):
- Net sales: Down 3%
- Total comparable store sales: Up 3%
- Comparable store sales in Canada: Up 7%
