Glen A. Beres, former editor of JCK’s High-Volume Jeweler and editor at National Jeweler, died suddenly at home June 20. He was 50.
Beres was born in Lakewood, N.J., and was a lifelong resident of Howell Township. He continued to work as a freelance writer, contributing to JCK, National Jeweler, New York Diamonds, MJSA Journal, and other publications. Beres also owned GAB Communications, a résumé-writing service.
“Glen had a good sense of humor and was easy to work with,” says Rich Dalglish, former managing editor of JCK who worked with Beres on High-Volume Jeweler. “The magazine was a publication we all took pride in. It’s hard to believe he’s gone.”
“Glen was an incredibly hard working reporter. No one was better at chronicling the ups and downs of the major retailers in our industry,” says Peggy Jo Donahue, director of public affairs at MJSA who worked with Beres at JCK. “He will be sorely missed.”
Beres is survived by his four children, Emily, Sam, Casey, and Sophie; his parents, Andrew and Marie Beres; a brother, Joseph Beres and his wife, Mary; a sister, Elizabeth Schwartz and her husband, Robert; five nephews; and three nieces.
