It was, police admitted, an “easy” theft to solve.
According to a report on the Bavarian police website, on Oct. 20, a 38-year-old woman walked into a jewelry store in Obernburg, Germany, and gave the clerk a bracelet for cleaning along with her name and residence.
She then grabbed a tray with gold and silver jewelry valued at nearly $14,000, and ran out of the store.
The store clerk called police and gave a description of the woman along with the identifying information. The police found the woman in her car driving home; she subsequently admitted to the theft, and led the police to the stolen items.
The woman now faces shoplifting charges.
