Robbins Diamonds, a long-time Pa. retailer known for its diamond-bearded owner Jerry, is closing two of its three locations.
The company’s sole remaining store is located in Newark, Del. The company had filed for Chapter 11 in 2009.
Among the stores being closed is its flagship 8th and Walnut store in Philadelphia, which for years advertised heavily. It is also closing its Allentown, Pa. store.
“Like a lot of folks, we’ve had to tighten our belts lately,” said a note on the company’s website. “We’ve had a blast over the years serving our customers there, so we’re sad to be leaving.”
Robbins Diamonds is a different company than Robbins Brothers, the California chain which just reacquired two stores in Houston.
