Electronics may generate more media buzz, but a recent
survey ranked jewelry just below that category on holiday wish lists.
According to the Cotton Lifestyle Monitor, jewelry ranks No. 5 among the most desired gifts on consumer’s 2010 wish lists, just below electronics. Gift cards hold the No. 1 spot.
Jewelry did not rank in the top five in the group’s 2009
survey.
The survey also found:
- Clothing gifts “will be in high demand” as shoppers make up
for restrained apparel spending. - Consumers are still seeking bargains, but are looking
beyond “mass merchants.” - “Holiday shoppers are embracing their credit cards again.”
Some 54 percent of consumers plan to use credit cards this holiday, compared with only 48 percent in 2009.
