New York City–based independent jewelry brands Wendy Brandes, Julie Lamb, My Story Fine Jewelry, Christine Huber, Goldhenn, Page Sargisson, Delphine Leymarie, and Maya J are joining forces for a two-day pop-up shop March 22–23 in New York City.
We chatted with Lamb and Brandes about what the ephemeral shop has in store for local shoppers:
JCK: Does this cool pop-up shop have a name?
Julie Lamb: We’re calling it The Hook Up, because we’re aiming to hook our guests up with the best of New York City designers and luxury goods. The space [we’ll be in] is The Boutique, which is a showroom that’s part of Timeless, a bridal manufacturer. Jackie Cohen [designer of My Story Fine Jewelry] is part owner with her brother, and her line is produced there.

JCK: How did the idea for the pop-up come together?
Lamb: The party/sale idea is something Jackie and I have done together before—about two years ago when I first started my brand. Meeting so many like-minded independent New York designers over the last couple of years, I realized we could have our own collective.
We wanted to broaden the talent offering, include our friends and peers, have a great party, and sell some jewelry! Jackie’s My Story line and my line do not compete with each other. We feel strongly that we are better together, and whether it’s a store trip, trunk show, or private sale, giving buyers multiple reasons to come see us is beneficial for everyone. We are very serious about having a good time! And [about] supporting women owned and operated small businesses. The Hook Up combines our passions and can hopefully grow into a quarterly party.
In this transitional time in our industry, we believe in thinking outside the traditional jewelry box.

JCK: What made you want to collaborate with these specific designers?
Wendy Brandes: I’ve done a lot of successful private-sale parties, but I’ve always had to do them alone, even though I thought it would make the atmosphere much more festive if there were other designers there.
In the past, I think designers were just hesitant to try it. But Julie and I had been looking for ways to collaborate, so when she proposed this event, I signed up immediately. We all have different styles, and there will be something for everyone.

Lamb: We have also included an Italian leather goods brand [Armadio] and luxury skincare [Arbonne]. We are open to including boys! And accessories and decor.
The Hook Up: March 22–23; 5 p.m.–8:30 p.m. both days. Address disclosed with invitation—email eryn@wendybrandes.com for details.
