Alrosa Chooses New CEO

Sergei Ivanov Jr.’s father was chief of staff to Russian president Putin

Russian diamond miner Alrosa has chosen Sergei Ivanov Jr. as its new CEO, according to reports in The Siberian Times and other news sources.

He replaces Andrey Zharkov, who has served in the role since 2015.

The company did not respond to a request for comment.

Ivanov Jr.’s father, Sergei Ivanov, is the former chief of staff to Russian president Vladimir Putin, as well as a former deputy prime minister. In 2014, he was sanctioned by President Obama.

The younger Ivanov is currently senior vice president of state-owned financial institution Sberbank, The Siberian Times reports.
