The matching ruby pair
Gemfields has uncovered a rare pair of matching rubies from its Montepuez ruby mine in Mozambique.
The pair, which total 45 cts., will be sold at Gemfields’ ruby auction in Singapore June 16–21.
“It is extremely rare to find two matching rubies of this size, color, and quality,” said Ian Harebottle, CEO of Gemfields. “Their discovery underscores the importance of the Montepuez deposit as a source of some of the highest-quality rubies the world has seen in generations.”
The Montepuez mine was discovered in 2009 and is the world’s largest-known ruby deposit.
