Macy’s, which in May announced plans to open a new store concept called Macy’s Backstage that will sell off-price items, including jewelry, has added two more locations.
Four pilot stores were initially announced—Brooklyn, N.Y.; Elmhurst, N.Y.; New Hyde Park, N.Y.; and Huntington, N.Y.—and the company said yesterday that locations in the Bronx, N.Y., and West Orange, N.J., will also open in fall 2015.
“We continue to be very excited about the coming of Macy’s Backstage,” said Peter Sachse, Macy’s chief innovation and business development officer. “Feedback we have heard from shoppers since the initial public announcement of our first four pilot locations has been enthusiastic, and our team looks forward to bringing this fresh new retail concept to life.”
The West Orange, N.J., location will replace an existing Macy’s store. The current store will begin its final clearance sale on June 14, and it is expected to run through late July. The store will then close for remodeling. The new store will take up about half of the space of the current store.
