5 Incredible Diamond Finds in 2014



Here are five diamonds that captured our imaginations this year.

1. 122.52 Carat Blue Diamond Found at Cullinan

Petra Diamonds discovered the blue at its Cullinan mine in South Africa. It later sold for $27 million. 

2. 95 Carat Type IIa Diamond Found in Angola

The stone was the second-largest stone recovered from the Lulo Diamond Concession in Angola. 

3. Two 160-Plus Carat Diamonds Found at Mine

The two diamonds were discovered by Gem Diamonds at the Letšeng mine in Lesotho. 

4. “Exceptional” 29.6 Ct. Blue Diamond Discovered in South Africa

Another Petra Diamonds find from its South African Cullinan mine, “the most important source of blues in the world.”

5. 14-Year-Old Finds 3.85 Carat Yellow Diamond at Arkansas Park

It may not be the most exceptional find of the year, but it is one of the most magical: A 14-year-old girl found a 3.85 ct. canary yellow diamond at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Ark.
